Why Believe in Humanity?

We tend to live up or down to the expectations of others, as well as to the expectations we have for ourselves.  Both neuroscience and ethnography confirm the benefits of positive social interactions for brain health and humanity.  Rather than expecting and living down to the worst in humanity, humanity benefits when expecting and living up to those behaviors which benefits our health.
